Committees
Technology / Communications - Publicizes chapter events, publishes chapter newsletter, and maintains a current chapter website. Corresponding Secretary chairs this committee, submits Chapter Communications & Publicity Committee Biennial Report (Form 38) by February 1 of even-numbered years to State Communications Chair.
The Yearbook Committee provides yearbook guidelines for chapters and answers chapter questions as they compile their yearbooks. The Committee receives and evaluates yearbooks to determine the chapters who qualify for Early Bird or Exemplary Awards which are given at the Alpha State Convention in June. Christina Daniels- Chairman Priscilla Tilton - Newsletter Sherri Davenport - Yearbook & Website Membership - Recommends and leads efforts to recruit new members, receives Recommendation for Membership forms, prepares information on prospective members, conducts election of new members according to chapter rules, conducts the orientation for new members, collaborates with ceremonies chair for the initiation ceremony, conducts a reorientation session for members as necessary, chair assists treasurer in contacting members who have not paid dues. Second vice-president chairs this committee. Chair submits Chapter Membership Committee Biennial Report (Form 36) by February 1 of even-numbered years to State Membership Chair. Stephanie Bailey & Donna Taylor - Co-Chairmen Ceremonies & Nominations - Presents a slate of officers to the membership by March of even-numbered years, obtains permission from each nominee, and conducts the election. Chair ensures that the list of new officers with contact information is submitted to state and international as soon as possible after the election. Chair is named by incoming president from the elected members of the committee.
The Ceremonies Committee promotes an appreciation of the heritage of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. It is the duty of this committee to act as a resource to chapters as they prepare and deliver various ceremonies throughout the year. This committee has access to a large archive of ceremonies for inductions, installation of officers, recommitment and remembrance. Finance & Scholarship - Members are encouraged to apply for international and state scholarships and grants for personal, professional, and classroom needs. Scholarship committee members share information about the types of scholarships available.
The scholarship committee works with counselors from our 5 local high schools and solicits applicants of senior girls who are pursuing a college degree in education. They are encouraged to apply for our scholarship. The committee chooses a recipient of the scholarship. Assists the treasurer as necessary, creates the budget, reviews the chapter financial records annually and reports to the Executive Board. Chair submits Chapter Finance Committee Biennial Report (Form 40) by February 1 of even-numbered years to the State Finance Chair. Debbie McGee, Finance Committee Chairman Sherri Davenport, Scholarship Committee Chairman Programs / Service Projects - Programs and projects are the heart of chapter meetings. They reflect the interests and needs of the chapter, while fulfilling the purposes of the Society. The role of the Programs and Service Projects Committee is to help chapters identify and develop programs and projects that educate and inspire members, enhance quality education, serve the community, and promote the Society. Committee members are available to provide ideas, suggestions, and support to chapters in the TSO community.
The Programs and Service Projects Committee is a member of the Educational Excellence Committee. Shari Sullivan and Cynthia Villalovos, Co- Chairmen Social - The social committee recognizes and celebrates monthly birthdays, coordinates the food for each meeting, greets members and guests at all functions, and sends cards to members for illness, celebrations, condolences, etc.
